I Made These...

What's my favourite past-time now? It's definitely got to be sewing!!! The sense of achievement is immeasurable... especially when I see one-by-one of the projects that I've set out to sew being completed...*smile*

As I surf pass the many wonderful sewing blogs... I've been inspired to sew a pillowcase blouse for Little Missy...this is my first attempt in drawing my own pattern (pillowcase blouse)... there is certainly lots of fine tuning to be done... but for now, I'm just content that I manage to sew something decent out of it... *wink*
This Ruffle Skirt was made this afternoon... based on the tutorial, I did my own pattern, which effectively was just 4 rectangles (2 for the band and 2 for the ruffle)...had wanted to complete it within an hour, at the end of the day I finished it in 2 hours instead...I'm however, happy with the end result... Little Missy looks really cute in it *beaming*
Have already got more in mind to sew... I can't seem to stop sewing now... *LOL*... next up? Going to complete 3 other hats and 1 Charlie bag... *wink*

Hi Pauline,

These are so pretty!

Will you take orders please? I am so not joking! Think you have a talent here! :-D Missy is very blessed indeed.

BTW i share your sentiments in your previous posts on being a mum to two, and coping with Tim's terrible twos...i feel exactly the same way and everyday i pray for strength and grace, wisdom and patience. I feel lousy at times and am learning along.

you are doing a good job, you hang in there!

Hi Alice, thanks so much dear...I just sew for fun...there are still room for improvement in my sewing skills. But if you'd like to learn I can always teach... :)

Yes dear... it's really not easy being a MOT and one who have to face the kids 24/7... but the kids are placed into our hands for a reason... so yah, you are right... have to keep praying for grace, strength, wisdom and patience...

Hi mamabliss

I love the Ruffle Skirt. May I know where did you buy the cloths from? And which brand of sewing machine is good? You inspire me to sew too keke but I know nut about sewing so hope the online tutorial would be useful for me gee.

Hello Mommy to Javier & Jeanie, I have bought some of my fabrics from Spotlight (which I strongly recommend against unless you can't find any of the special print fabrics anywhere else)... otherwise you may try Arab Street, Textile Centre or Chinatown People's Park.

The brand of my sewing machine is Janome. I would think a basic machine should suffice, so any brand will do... Singer or Brother or even Janome these are brands that have been around for a while.

The step by step tutorial for the Ruffle Skirt can be found here http://grandrevivaldesign.typepad.com/photos/ruffled_skirts_tutorial/index.html

Happy Sewing!
