Artful Lil' Hands - Sun Catchers

We've have had a BLAST today at Artful Lil' Hands... we were so happy to have Mommy Shirley and Little Jireh joining us (the original Trio mother and child group - Mommy Adeline & Caitlin, Mommy Joyce & Cherrlyn and of course yours truly & Tim)... *big grin*

After resting for a week (due to Tim's fall), we continued with the Garden's theme... and to help the kids warm up to each other...we did some doodling on mahjong paper... the kids had different art materials (crayons, water-base markers, glitter glue, chubby dot markers) to work with on this free doodling...
We started the session proper with Mommy Adeline leading a finger play about butterflies, with the kiddos... and our dear Mr Timmy ran away into his room leaving his friends to have his own fun *roll eyes*...

Mommy Adeline was good at this... the kids were having so much fun doing the butterfly chant and actions...all except Timothy *roll eyes again* ;)After which, we headed to the garden that's just below where I live... the kids were each given a plastic bag to collect some garden items for their sun catcher craft...

We collected, leaves, twigs, flowers and pods in our bags and were all geared up to do the sun catcher...The kids love the sticky-ness of the laminating sheet that they can't stop touching it... heh heh... especially for Tim... he was so engrossed with touching the laminating sheet that he has forgotten about doing the sun catcher craft...

Aren't those sun catchers beautiful? I thought they looked absolutely outstanding!!! The sun rays that beamed in from the balcony was simply perfect for these sun catchers... *wink*
We then settled down for some snacks... I was really thrilled to have Mommy Adeline coming in early to help me out on making the egg tarts... it was my first time baking egg tarts though... well... I'm really happy that my guests found the egg tarts delish teehehe...all thanks to dear Wokking Mum who shared her easy to follow recipe.

Before the Mommies & Kiddos bade good bye to each other, Mommy Shirley did an impromtu story-telling... look at how attentive the kids were? Here's a little Tot Book I've made for each of the kids in our group today... it's a book base on the Garden theme... it's similar to that of a lapbook except it's smaller and easier for the little biddy ones to handle... I've added elements on learning A-B-Cs, Colours, the growing process of a seed and the name of each child...

This might perhaps help the kids remember what they have learned years after they have grown...
That marks the end of our session today...and we are looking forward to our next playgroup... we are most likely doing a field trip to the botanic garden next week... so stay tuned for more updates!!! ;)

Hi Mamabliss,

So grateful that I found your website when I tried to organise my bookshelf. Books had been difficult to locate. Your little picture of your home library and tips worked wonders, and guess what, my home library is now transformed into a very neat place (despite frequently visited) that all in the family are very poud of.
