Playgroup - Artful Lil Hands

It was such an eventful morning today... playgroup was hosted at my place with 4 very special guests... Mommy Adeline & Caitlin and Mommy Joyce & Cherrlyn was here to enjoy some playgroup fun with Tim & me... (we originally have another mommy & boy joining us however, they were unable to make it today; we'll look forward to their joining us next week)...

Tim was all smiles and excited that he has two friends to keep him company today... *smile*

While waiting for everyone to arrive, we started with some simple chalk drawing... and of course some playing of toys :)
Our theme for this time is "Garden"... and the art & craft activities surrounds the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. We started the playgroup proper with me reading the story to the kids.
The first activity we did after the reading of the book was to make a butterfly... out of coffee filter and clothe peg... the kids used the chubby dot markers to decorate the butterfly and the mommies helped them with the clothe pegs...
See here's everyone showing off their art & craft work...
And since we were on the story about caterpillar and butterfly, we did a simple pasting work based on the process of metamorphosis...and at the same time learn numbers... this was done with much help from the mommies... *wink*
After the main activity was completed, we were well ahead of time, so I gave the kids some drawing materials to play with... and the mommies took this opportunity to chit chat and get to know each other better...
After an hour of fun, the kids settled down at the dining area to have some snack... we had mini pancakes (in the shape of star and circle)... and the kids love it lots... each one of them had 2 pancakes ;)
That marked the end of our first session at Artful Lil Hands... ;) I'm just grateful that the kids had a funfilled morning and the mommies had opportunity to exchange notes about motherhood and homeschooling...

We can accommodate another 2-3 children in this group...if you are keen to join us, just drop me a note ya...

Next week, we'll continue with the garden theme, and this time we are going for a mini field trip to the garden and work on sun catchers... stay tuned... till then... have fun!

Hi, chanced upon this blog and find your playgroup looks interesting. Am interested in joining your playgroup with my 2.5 year old boy if there's still space for us? Can let me know? Thanks!
