Tim's Development...

Wow... Tim is growing so quickly, that I'm behind time in recording his progress... *guilt stricken mama*... I'd better be more vigilant in recording, otherwise, I'd missed all these milestones of his and he won't be able to read about it when he is older... ;)

We've noticed his 2 other new teeth cutting through... I discovered his 2 upper lateral incisors cutting through one week before CNY... was so thrilled... no wonder he's been drooling like a tap... *faint*... his t-shirts/bodysuits are perpetually wet on the front... he's one BIG drooler boy! teehehe
The moment we've been finally waiting for... Tim, is finally willing to put on some decent 'big boys' shoes and start to take his first few steps (with aid, of course)... There were many times, I was wondering how long do I have to wait before he's going to start walking *kan cheong mama*... He no longer curl up his legs when we hold his hands to try to stand him up… in fact he’s been walking up and down in the house… heh heh… what a new achievement!!! It got hubby and I very thrilled!!! But that also marks another new challenge for us that's coming soon… ;)Tim is also increasingly expressive… while he’s unable to articulate in proper words things that he wants and trying to tell us… he’s able to babble and gesture and he understands what we are trying to tell him as well… we were pleasantly surprised by him many times… eg. He’s able to pick up his own shoes when we ask him “where are your shoes”… what got me more thrilled was when he picked up his socks and put it to his feet, he’s unable to put it on, on his own yet, but he knew the socks were meant to be worn on the feet… oooh… how interesting…Both hubby and I agree that kids toys don't hold the interest of the children for too long… which is what Montessori said too… children who work with their hands on ‘real life’ things are calmer, quieter, and tend to concentrate for a longer period of time. We experimented this on Tim, several times, and have observed that he enjoys playing with ‘real life’ things better than his toys… he’s very distracted when he is playing with the toys… but while he’s on some simple materials we gave him such as a container and a spoon… even a simple plastic box with some cubes in it, he repeatedly open and close the box’s lid, take out and put back the cubes into the box… he’s able to keep at it for more than 15-20mins…

On the 2nd day of CNY, both hubby and I were busy-ing in the kitchen as we were expecting guests… we put him on his high chair and make him watch us do our work… while we were working, we describe and talk to him about what we were doing… he was able to sit on the high chair for over an hour… AMAZING!!!

Hello, Pauline! =) I've been reading your blog for some time. Hee. Have been "qian3 shui3"ing (a popular Chinese term meaning diving literally, but is used widely in the online world for the act of reading other ppl's blog without letting the author know). But here I am, finally decided to come out of the water. We met before. If you scratch your head hard enough, you might be able to guess who I am. ;)
